Blacktown City

Winter Solstice night for mental health awareness. Held at Blacktown Showground with speakers from mental health practitioners and people with lived experience, and stalls from local support agencies.  2nd night to be held Saturday  22nd June, 2024.

Blacktown City – SMIT, a 6-minute intensive training programme focusing on giving people vital information on identifying possible mental health issues in people. It was developed by Rotarian Gary Raymond and presented to various groups including some Police Area Commands.

Camden

Camden – Mental Health Expo & Forum to be held Saturday 23rd March 2024 at Camden Civic Centre.  An expo of industry-leading organisations and presentations from experts in their field.

Illawarra Rotaract

Illawarra Rotaract created “Acts of Kindness” cards that encouraged people to perform simple acts of kindness and pass them on, and also social media posts for R U OK? Day and Mental Health Awareness month.

Ingleburn

IngleMinds, a team of 10 members, was established in 2021 and since then has undertaken m including:
  • arranged guest speakers and a mental health forum to inform & educate members
  • sponsored R U OK? Day projects for a school and youth
  • provided free Mental Health First Aid training for Rotarians and community members
  • developed mental well-being strategies with Minto Gardens Retirement Village through numerous events, activities, and monthly health talks
  • connected Minto Gardens & Campbellfield PS leading to the development of an intergenerational program between residents and year 4-6 students
  • initiated “Connecting with Cards” – Rotarians & community members make hand-made greeting cards which are given to isolated & vulnerable people in retirement and nursing homes, and through Meals on Wheels
  • connected with agencies such as Head to Health, Shining Stars, Safe Haven, Beautiful Minds.

Parramatta City

Over 4 years, the club funded Metal Health 1st Aid courses for Nepalese International students in Sydney & Melbourne. This was a RAWCS project, chosen because of the high suicide rates of Nepalese students.

Shellharbour City

On R U OK? Day they provided a free community BBQ for a fairly new & developing subdivision, encouraging residents to meet and with representatives of the R U OK? organisation present.
